del trabajo que se ha llevado a cabo con diferentes alfabetos desde sus diferentes postulados formales —así, el valor del trazo, del dibujo, de la tipología, de la tecnología generadora, etc., con el finde destilar aquello que de fundamental y accesorio aparece en la tipografía. &nbsp;&nbsp;Las formas de las letras están definidas por el espacio que las envuelve, el blanco. Esa condición hace que, al descomponer un grafismo en sus trazos constitutivos, sean del valor que sean, los blancos también resulten fragmentados y, con ello, se adquieran nuevas definiciones de formas. Éstas, yuxtapuestas y combinadas según criterios y reglas predeterminadas, generan indefectiblemente una serie de variaciones y nuevas propuestas formales en sucesiva derivación.Para el desarrollo de este proyecto se han trabajado y manipulado dos alfabetos de referencia: uno de gestación manuscrita y caligráfica, la Cancellaresca hechada de Juan de Yciar (1); y otro conceptualmente opuesto a éste, no condicionado por el trazo o dibujo de la pluma, sino con un alto índice racionalidad proyectual, la Futura de Paul Renner (2). A partir de esos dos modelos, se ha procedido a descomponerlos y desconstruirlos (3) hasta distinguir los tres distintos tipos de trazos: verticales, diagonales y curvos (4). A su vez, éstos han sido divididos en cinco diferentes grupos (5), en relación directa a su capacidad definidora de la forma. Al establecer una relación completa de los trazos fundamentales, también se definieron, por contagio y por ser consustanciales a esa definición, los diferentes espacios blancos contornales asociados a ellos (6). Así, el conjunto de unidades modulares permite la obtención de combinaciones que dan como resultado las diferentes gamas del mismo trazo (7), creando una determinada serie limitada y autoreferenciada.Esta construcción y juego de combinatorias se basa en el sistema lógico de razonamiento que figura en los fundamentos de La máquina lógica (5), de Ramon Llull, donde, a través de un sistema mecánico basado en las figuras geométricas perfectas (círculo, cuadrado y triángulo), se definen las posibles combinatorias de las teorias, sujetos y predicados teológicos. Mediante un determinado artificio de palancas, diales y manivelas, las proposiciones y tesis se movían a lo largo de unas guías y se detenían frente a la postura positiva o negativa según correspondiese. Para Llull, esta máquina, denominada “Ars Magna”, podía probar por sí misma la verdad o mentira de un postulado. Nosotros hemos utilizado el mismo principio postulado por el pensador mallorquín, consiguiendo series formales alfabéticas definidas, en origen, por las distintas gamas de trazo, a las que se les ha
